Let’s catch up?!
Hiiii besties, long time no blog post. You know the drill - life has been busy, priorities and schedules have shifted a bit the last 18 months, and that’s okay.
I said at the start of last year that I wanted to aim for at least one blog post here per month. That was.. a little while ago. Obviously, that fell by the wayside a little, but I’ve been wanting to get back to the blog for a while now. I still really love writing longer-form content, however inspo has been a little short lately.
So, I thought I’d be a little self indulgent and drop some personal thoughts/more of an about me, for anyone curious! Let’s go!
The story behind why I photograph..
I’ve been photographing since I could hold a camera, thanks to my Dad. This never really clicked in my mind until I was much older, but Dad worked as a wedding photographer when I was a kid, and ran a photography/electronics retail store. He was always bringing me little disposable cameras and printing out my shitty photos of my mum and dog for me to keep, and giving me random albums to store my growing ‘portfolio’. He’s the reason I’ve always owned a camera and why I think in images. He definitely encouraged that creativity from aq young ager and I’m so so grateful.
3 things I wish more people knew about me and my work..
If you’re having a wedding/event, I can do the flowers as well as the photos because ya gal is also a trained florist! Will even throw you a little photography discount if you book me for both.
I have a photojournalism and sports background, and I am much more inclined to photograph what is HAPPENING, instead of posing and setting stuff up. Candids 4eva.
I fkn hate AI and the way the world is going. I WANT to be creative, I don’t want it taking that away from me. All my photos are, and will always be, manually edited by me, and my blogs and content are never AI-generated.
3 things I’m passionate about outside photography..
Flowers! Been a flower lover since I started photography uni and have always been like ‘hmm how can I mesh these things together’. They bring me so much joy!
Vegan food! I’ve been vegan since 2016, these days for ethical/environmental reasons. Always up for a fully vegan wedding, I’ll probably even give you a discount!
Music and gigs. I listen to a wiiiide range, from (a lot of) Taylor Swift, to pop punk, to 90s dance bangers, to Australian indie local music. My current Aus faves are Slowly Slowly, Sly Withers, Teenage Joans, Suzi, Bec Stevens and Luca Brasi, plus The Wonder Years, A Day to Remember and, of course, Tay. If any of the above are gigging, find me in the pit.
If I could go back in time I..
Would go back to day 1, semester 2, first year of uni and not knock over my camera and my BRAND NEW 24-70 f2.8 lens that I’d just spent $2000 of hard earned food-court-job money on. (It smashed internally, had to be sent off to repair and cost me almost as much as buying a brand new lens)
My favourite types of photography at the moment..
Can’t go past a wedding, for sure. But if weddings are sparse, I like to fit in a short-n-sharp marketing or headshot sesh. I'd also looove to get back into sport photography in some capacity in 2026. Especially working with one team for a whole season for game-day photos. That’s the dream! (✨ manifesting this haha ✨)
Currently listening to..
‘Mine’ by Taylor Swift, on repeat. No real reason why, it’s just a banger. Also Suzi’s new album, Patchwork. Good if you’re in the mood to be sad!
Favourite thing I’ve done this year?
Started singing lessons back in April. I’ve sang ever since primary school, in varying capacities, and I love love love it. Lessons bring me great joy, have massively improved my confidence and have taught me a lot more about music theory, which is an area I’d love to understand more!
Favourite possession..
Well, today it’s the pothos plant I rescued yesterday from the hard rubbish pile in my apartment lobby. I’ve set it up in my lounge room where I can always see it and monitor if it’s thriving! For a flower lady, I have very very few plants and I would like to change this!
My last meal would be..
An absolute vat of pan-fried veggie dumplings, smothered in chilli oil and soy sauce, plus a side of Shanghai veggie fried noodles.
Biggest lesson from 2025 so far?
LOOK AFTER YOUR BODY. My August and September have been tainted by constant back/glute/hamstring pains. I injured my back in August, not from anything wild, just from being a little too confiedent, forgetting I’m no longer 21, and doing a few silly things consecutively until my body degraded massively without my knowledge. And I am still paying for it, ha. Take it easy! And get strong, safely!
That’s it from me, for now! Drop me a message on Insta and let me know which of these points resonated most with you.
And if you’d like me to cover anything specific in this blog (behind the scenes, full galleries, personal stuff, photography tips), hit me up, I’d love to know!
